Template Ideas
Wordsworth
You don’t see many poetry books with hardcovers anymore, but nevertheless, sometimes you just want a book that asserts itself in a bookshelf.
Dunne
A standard template that’s relatively cheap to make and ship. No bells and whistles. The size allows for good portability without compromising readability.
Keates
This is a smaller template that is ideal for carrying around in a bag or pocket. For all those wandering souls who like to enjoy poetry on the road.
Poetry Cover Ideas
Poetry book covers tend to be very either very minimalist or very abstract. Serif fonts are also widespread. When designing a poetry cover, try to communicate the main themes and/or the general atmosphere of your poetry. A subtitle may also be useful in order to attract readers looking for a certain subgenre or topic.
Pattern
We love a good abstract cover for poetry books. Coupled with a nice classic serif font, it results in a clean, classy look. Make sure the colours and shapes evoke something of the contents.
Colours
A more modern take is perhaps simply pairing an eye-catching colour or two with your title. We chose a sans serif fonts for this particular example, in an attempt to emulate a modern art type of vibe.
Mood
Poetry is all about conveying emotion, and a good way to complement that goal visually is with am artful photograph. Try to go for something that isn’t too busy. The more people fill in themselves, the better.
